TRES NOIR / WAYCOOLER
After working for a local eyewear design company, brothers Joe and Tony Prenovost decided to venture out on their own, creating a line of handmade eyewear deeply rooted in classic Americana culture.
With a tiny budget, the brothers produced their first collection in their Long Beach garage. The response from friends and early supporters was very positive, so they kept going and haven’t looked back since. Fast forward six years, and Tres Noir is a global brand with dedicated fans across the US, Japan, Australia, and Europe.
Although Tres Noir has grown, the company’s commitment to quality hasn’t wavered a bit. Its frames are still handmade in limited runs using quality materials generally found in high-end prescription eyeglasses: handmade acetate, monel metal, and European CR39 lenses.
Our favorite from the company is the Waycooler, Tres Noir’s take on the iconic wayfarer style. These sunglasses have a serious greaser edge, giving them a bolder, more maverick look. The Waycooler comes in several finishes (the black and honey tortoise is our favorite). Here’s a look at the rest of the lineup.
