MISTER FREEDOM X PALLADIUM / LA CHAUSSURE “PALLADENIM”
Two of our local favorites, Palladium Boots and Mister Freedom, recently got together to create the PALLADENIM, a traditional Palladium design revisited by Mister Freedom.
The PALLADENIM is inspired by jungle boots that the French government issued to its soldiers in the 1950s during France’s campaigns in Indochina and Algeria.
The boot’s upper is made from vintage raw selvedge indigo denim, loomed in the United States and sourced directly from Mister Freedom’s extensive archive of vintage “New Old Stock” textiles.  Just like a good pair of jeans, these denim boots will wear over time and create a distinct finish and feel.  Here’s a closer look.

To learn more about these amazing boots, or to pick up a pair, visit Mister Freedom’s website.  If you have a few minutes, you should also take a peek at Palladium’s website.  The company has produced a series of really interesting short films (all posted on its site) that explore cool places across the country.

LUDWIG VAN / IRONWORK SHIRT
There isn’t much that’s conventional about Ludwig Van, including its name.
The premium casual menswear label operates a lot like a design studio with one-off experimental pieces and limited runs on its collections.  It’s also hard to find.  Only a few shops and boutiques carry Ludwig Van locally, and that’s how the label prefers it.
On Friday, Ludwig Van previewed a handful of items from its Spring 2011 “Re-Mix” collection, which features pieces refashioned or repurposed from military gear.  These items are only available in small quantities exclusively on the label’s website.
We love everything we have seen so far and can’t wait for the entire collection to drop.  Our favorite item is the Ironwork Shirt, which is made from repurposed US Air Force shirts.  Each has a unique right-pocket flap made from vintage dead-stock 100% virgin wool pendleton blankets.  Here’s a closer look.

Learn more about Ludwig Van by visiting the label’s website.  You can also find Ludwig Van on Facebook and Twitter.  Browse all the label’s Spring 2011 vintage re-mix items here.
You can also find a limited selection of Ludwig Van items at Blackmarket LA, a very cool boutique just west of the 405 between Olympic and Santa Monica.
